Skin Care Lit is for dedicated estheticians and professionals that specialize (or wish to specialize) in skin health.

Our members have basic to advanced knowledge of skin physiology and are typically providers of professional skin care services with the ability to retail professional skin care products.

Current esthetics students are welcome, though you’ll get the most out of your membership once you’ve completed your schooling.

Skin care enthusiasts without a professional background in the aesthetic industry

While we appreciate all skin enthusiasts, if you’re interested in education for your own skin health, this membership isn’t for you. Our lessons assume a professional level of skin physiology knowledge that can only be gained through an esthetician's license or medical background, and much of our education is focused on client care and the career and business aspects of professional skin care.

Professional service providers who do not specialize in skin care

Skin Care Lit is about becoming and remaining an expert in skin through a commitment to ongoing learning and consistent engagement with the lessons and community. If you’re a casual dabbler in skin care, this membership probably isn’t for you. You won’t find content related to other esthetic modalities here (i.e. hair removal, lashes, nails, etc.)

Anyone unsupportive, overly competitive or looking to put others down

While you’ll gain a competitive edge as a Skin Care Lit member, we’re all learning and at different stages in our careers. We offer a safe space to ask questions, share experiences, and learn without judgement — and we’re not interested in anyone bringing down our positive, supportive culture. Professionals only, please! (In every sense of the word).

Yes! In an industry that’s always changing, you can’t stay an expert without continually learning. We have lessons and resources that will help you reach the top of your career game — whether you’re just starting out or have been in the industry for years. Yes! And kudos to you for taking the initiative to jump-start your career. You may be challenged by some of the content we provide, and that’s okay — just don’t give up! Instead, ask questions and reach out for support in the Knowledge Network, brush up on the basics in the Skin Foundations Certification, and pat yourself on the back for pushing yourself. We promise it’ll pay off.

No, it’s an education and resource membership. However, members have access to lessons and certifications within the Achievement Centre that are often structured like courses. Members also get access to our Resource Library and Knowledge Network. Plus, they receive member-only pricing when Skin Care Lit offers courses separate from the membership — such as our signature Sales Haters Academy course.

We believe that to be true experts in skin, we need to be science-informed — not brand-informed. We strive to make our education unbiased, factual, and free of marketing language. It’s one of the reasons we focus on ingredient knowledge over product knowledge — in contrast to the majority of the brand-created or sponsored training provided in our industry.

That being said, to be experts in professional skin care and provide our clients with effective treatment plans, we need to be knowledgeable about industry brands. Therefore, we may reference brands or provide brand examples of a specific treatment or product category. On occasion, brand representatives will be invited to speak to us when we feel their knowledge is valuable to our members — but this will always be clearly marked as branded content. Rest assured, we will never provide you with branded information disguised as science or fact.
